Wow! So here I am writing to you in my first blog chronicle of my adventures in the world of online dating! Check our our Free Online Dating Service. I started this idea some 4+ years ago now, it was a small of bringing people together through their respective connections in life. The idea was simple, everyone knows everyone in this world by means of the people that they are friends with. I thought what an experiment you could have if you could tap into the people that your friends new, and then who the people they new and so on. In short order, you may meet hundreds and maybe even thousands of new people. Little did I know at the time, that others had already beat me to the punch and sites like Friendster, MySpace and now Facebook took the internet by storm.
So I took a step back in my development of my “social networking” and thought I should build a dating site that mixed the best of both worlds together. Social Networking meets Dating. Why not? This wouldn’t be the first time that I went down the road of on line dating. I actually had an on line dating site back in the mid 90’s. The year was 1996 and it was called Sunset Park. It’s sad to think about what could have been if I would have just kept going with the concept way back when. None the less, here I am again a good decade plus later bringing the concept back alive with FriendPad.
So, what’s the purpose of this blog? I plan to chronicle what I am doing week by week, month by month as I plant the seed and begin to grow what I feel could be a great thing. One day I might be talking about my hosting company and the next I might be talking about some really neat marketing concept and maybe the next day I will be citing some dating industry news. None the less, I hope to keep things interesting around here.
It’s not going to be easy and it’s going to take may years, but I am up for the challenge. FriendPad.com will become something great and I want you to hear about it as it grows.
So, where are we at now. Well, the site has been on line approximately 3 months now. I believe I went live with the site around March 8th, in fact 3 months on the nose. 
I have just over 2500 people as members in the site, a far cry from the competition. It’s a totally free site and 100% funded by my own pocket. That’s right, I am fronting all the costs so the folks that come to my site can get a date.
I’m located in Akron, Ohio and I have placed a souped up dedicated server on a seriously souped up bandwidth line out in Los Angelas, California. Which by the way, is a great city if you want to travel out west.
